Photo 30 May A salsa bowl! The handle is very handy. This is a porcelaneous stoneware that was slipped with a blue porcelain and then glazed with a clear blue celadon and then soda-fired. The red is from the copper carbonate that we put into the kiln as part of the firing process. Usually we think of copper as going green, but when it’s reduced very heavily coppers produce that vivid red you see in the bottom of my little bowl.
